Lake Michigan's beach

Yesterday, we've enjoyed a nice walk at Lake Michigan. The five of us have appreciated doing something else than going around shops and administrations for all the settings.
It was our first trip to Lake Michigan's shore. It took us about 35 min to get there by car. We parked near Indiana dunes national lakeshore visitor center.
The sight is really worth seeing. We've had the chance to observe a unique natural phenomenon, highlighted in the beginning of 2014 by the famous geographer Florent VINCI and known as the "Tiramisu Effect".

Snow driven away by the wind collects into drifts that get covered by brown grains of sand. Luckily for us, papi Vincent wasn't here otherwise he would have got a stomachache with all this sandy Tiramisu!

The lake is so big that it really looks like the sea. With ArcelorMittal chimneys at the back of the landscape, Catherine and I, initially thought we were in Dunkerque :)
But once we saw the frozen ice along the shore, we were certain to be back to Indiana.

The children have been playing kind of "Beavis and Butt-head" games such as :
- rushing down the steep dune, used as an official sledding slope

- throwing snow balls at each other (Ok, I may have thrown one or two balls too...)
- finding nice pieces of ice (I think it was the only nice activity)

- and ice-skating with snow boots on (Ok, I may have shown them how to do it faster by previously running on fresh snow and then jumping on the ice...) We've had the chance to count only one wounded (Alexis has slightly twisted his wrist when falling)

Ah, nothing's like fresh air activities!
